Since when is Israel a functioning Democracy?! First- they have a different form of gov't- more like England's- P.M., etc.- Second- look at how many governments have been formed and collapsed/resigned/etc. in Israel's history- if their government functioned better they would actually listen to the people and try to make peace. Any form of government where 2 losing groups can avoid the election box and form a "coalition" gov't- the people's right to accept this government is completely eliminated; they voted, and the person who got the most votes doesn't even get to go into a run-off- he can actually be completely shut out of the process. Do some research into Israel's history, and some of the actions their "freedom fighters" took in the 40s in trying to establish their state. The actions would be called terrorism by today's standards. They are now a legitimate, sovereign nation, but they have no right what so ever to annex land that is outside their internationally recognized borders. I am not anti- Israel- I AM pro- common sense, and all too often the Israeli government does not heed the loud calls for peace from their citizens. They are not, and should not be, immune to criticism and being held responsible for their mistakes; nor should they be exempt from a need to change attitude and course from time to time- it's called furthering one's knowledge, and it quite often causes one to re-evaluate their beliefs and values. Try it.
